| THE VILLAGE OF KRITSA
The village of Kritsa is situated 9 kilometres away from Agios Nicolaos.
It's famous for it's Byzantine church of "Panagia Kera".
From Kritsa you have a fantastic view over the Mirabello Bay.
PROGRAMM
Pick up from your hotel by mini-bus or normal car.
From Chersonissos or Malia it's a half hour drive to the entrance of the gorge.
The length of the gorge is 6.5 kilometres. Difference in altitude is 200 metres.
Average time of walking is between 2.5 and 3 hours.
The first half is not too difficult but after 3 kilometres it gets really adventurous.
The rocks get bigger and we climb or slide down.
The last part is the most beautiful. The walls get higher and higher and the corridors
get smaller. The most narrow part we pass is only 1 metre wide !!!
At the end we prepare a picnic under a bridge in the shadow.
Taste and enjoy some Cretan food and a well deserved cool drink.
After the lunch we have time to visit the village of Kritsa before we bring you back.
